The German Institution of Arbitration (DIS) has been the leading authority in Germany for over a century on arbitration and alternative dispute resolution for national and international commercial disputes. It also has a long tradition and expertise in administering arbitration proceedings and other alternative dispute resolution procedures. Globally, the DIS has one of the largest portfolios of proceedings, covering the entire spectrum from amicable settlements to legally binding decisions. Furthermore, the DIS advises companies on how to resolve conflicts more quickly through effective strategies, thereby saving significant time, resources, and money.
The Union
The DIS is a registered association based in Berlin whose purpose is to promote arbitration. We operate independently of governmental or private organizations and our members include over 1,600 experts from Germany and abroad: Chambers of Industry and Commerce, leading German companies, lawyers, corporate counsel, and academics are organized within our unique network. We maintain offices in Berlin and Bonn. With our long tradition, we have established ourselves as a respected institution in the field of arbitration and have developed into a trusted and neutral platform for this area of ​​law in Germany. The German Sports Arbitration Court, an independent body separate from sports federations and other sports organizations, is supported by the DIS. It deals with disputes related to sports in general and, in particular, with anti-doping disputes.
